Who Is Eligible?

  • Landholding farmer families whose names appear in the land records of their state or union territory.
  • The family unit for the scheme means husband, wife and minor children.

Who Is NOT Eligible?

  • Institutional landholders.
  • Families where any member is or was a holder of a constitutional post, a minister, MP, MLA, mayor or district panchayat chairperson.
  • Serving or retired government employees and officers (excluding Group D / multi-tasking staff).
  • Anyone who paid income tax in the last assessment year.
  • Professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers and chartered accountants who practise their profession.
  • Pensioners drawing a monthly pension of ₹10,000 or more (excluding Group D retirees).

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official portal pmkisan.gov.in and open the “Farmers Corner” section.
  2. Click “New Farmer Registration”, choose rural or urban, and enter your Aadhaar number.
  3. Fill in your personal, land and bank details, then submit the form.
  4. Alternatively, apply through your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or your state agriculture office.

e-KYC Is Mandatory

Instalments are released only after e-KYC is completed. You can finish OTP-based e-KYC on the portal yourself, or biometric e-KYC at a CSC. If your payment is stuck, incomplete e-KYC or an un-seeded bank account is the most common reason.

  1. Go to pmkisan.gov.in and click “Know Your Status” under Farmers Corner.
  2. Enter your registration number and the OTP received on your registered mobile.
  3. The page shows your instalment history and any pending verification step.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can tenant farmers get PM Kisan? No. The benefit is linked to land ownership records, so tenant farmers without land in their name are not covered.

Is there any application fee? No. Registration is free on the portal; CSCs may charge a nominal service fee.
