PM Vishwakarma is a central scheme for traditional artisans and craftspeople who work with their hands and tools — carpenters, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, cobblers, tailors, barbers, washermen, masons, weavers of baskets and mats, toy makers, and other listed trades. It provides recognition, skill training, modern toolkits and cheap credit so family trades can grow into sustainable businesses.
What Beneficiaries Get
- Recognition: a PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card.
- Skill upgradation: basic training of 5–7 days and advanced training options, with a stipend of ₹500 per day during training.
- Toolkit incentive: up to ₹15,000 as e-vouchers to buy modern tools of the trade.
- Collateral-free credit: loans up to ₹3 lakh in two tranches (₹1 lakh, then ₹2 lakh after repayment and digital activity) at a concessional 5% interest, with the balance interest subvented by the government.

Who Is Eligible?
- Artisans and craftspeople engaged in one of the notified traditional trades, working with their own hands and tools, in the unorganised sector on a self-employment basis.
- Minimum age 18 years at registration.
- The applicant should not have taken a loan under similar central schemes (like PMEGP or Mudra) in the recent period defined by the guidelines, and government employees and their family members are not eligible.
- Registration is limited to one member per family.

How to Register
- Visit your nearest CSC centre, where the operator registers you on the official portal pmvishwakarma.gov.in with biometric verification.
- Your application is verified in three steps — gram panchayat / urban body, district committee and the screening committee.
- After approval you receive the certificate and ID, and can book your training slot, claim the toolkit voucher and apply for the first loan tranche.
